(This first appeared as the Dealer Spotlight in the September 2021 issue of Dealer E-News.) Mike and Cathi Keefe have spent more than 40 years building their family legacy in the window film business.

It all began in 1981, when Mike’s father opened window film businesses in both Pasco and Hernando Counties, just north of Tampa. In 1993, the Keefe’s joined another family member and partner and, together, incorporated 3M™ Window Film into their film offerings. Shortly after, Mike and Cathi acquired full ownership of the residential and commercial portion of the business. Ultra Security Window Film was born.

Offering 3M’s window film products increased their customer base due to brand recognition, Mike said. “The help and support that 3M has offered over the years is tremendous. They really make sure to take care of the customer,” Mike said.

Ultra Security Window Film proudly continues to operate as a family business. Cathi works behind the scenes, while their youngest daughter, Leah, has filled many roles throughout the years – from prepping windows for her dad’s installations to helping the business strengthen its online presence.

Their dedicated office manager, Sarah, has been a part of the business for more than 10 years. She has developed a great deal of knowledge about 3M film solutions and is instrumental in providing information to customers who are looking for guidance on the best options for solar control and safety and security.

Ultra Security Window Film is a member of the 3M™ Prestige Dealer Network and services residential and commercial customers from Tampa Bay to Ocala. Mike and Cathi attribute their business success to their attention to detail and high-quality installations. For example, they never enter a home without shoe coverings. “This scores a lot of points with the ladies,” Mike said. “We also take extra care with homeowners’ belongings as we move items and furniture around to install the film. It’s that extra level of detail and customer service that makes a difference.”

As a result of their high level of customer service, Ultra Security Window Film has gained an abundance of 5-star Google Business reviews. “We work hard for our reviews,” said Mike.

He recognizes the importance of maintaining high ranking reviews online, especially in a time where customers are spending more hours at home, working remotely. “We’ve been busy ever since news of the pandemic hit. People were home more, and realized the need for heat, glare, sun and security film solutions.”

Mike credits Accent and 3M for offering Google marketing webinars and educational resources to help increase their online presence. Ultra Security Window Film has a long-standing relationship with Accent Distributing. “Accent Distributing has taken distribution to the next level with their support and customer service for their dealers,” Mike said.
