(This article originally appeared in the February 2020 issue of “Dealer E-News.”) When Sally Fletcher heard last month that she and her husband’s company, Fletch Window Tint, had won the 2019 New Dealer of the Year award from 3M, her jaw dropped. It was an unexpected surprise to the couple, who both knew they had reached record sales in 2019 after switching to 3M™ Window Film and joining the Prestige Dealer network.

Fletch Window Tint services San Antonio and surrounding areas, providing both flat glass and auto tints for a variety of commercial, residential and automotive customers. The company first began in 1989. Her husband, Kevin “Fletch” Fletcher, had tinting experience and started the company by approaching dealerships to install window film on cars. As the business grew, Sally transitioned from Real Estate to join her husband. She took on sales vigorously and, at one point, the fledging company served 28 dealerships within the San Antonio area. Since that time, they have proudly installed more than 2.5 million square feet of film.

Sally laughs about the early years and how she learned to tint alongside the installers. “To me, installing was the fun part,” she said. “It’s important to see and understand what installers go through. It helped me as a professional and gave me a unique perspective into the business.”

Fletch Window Tint has grown to nine employees with four full-time professional installers. The company also uses six to seven subcontractors from time-to-time. Among her employees is her granddaughter, Abrielle, who is studying business in college and hopes to take over the business one day. During the summer months, their grandson, 15-year-old Ethan, joins the installation crew. Sally and Kevin both work in the sales room and enjoy working with their family – as well as for their customers. “Happy customers make my day,” Sally said. “We pride ourselves on being a five-star company. We always have taken a lot of pride with our services and our professionalism. We have instilled that with our installers, too.”

Being part of the community in which they serve is ingrained in the culture of Fletch Window Tint. Sally has served on the board for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Business Development Committee, the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s Organizational Committee and as an events coordinator for the March of Dimes. “Giving back to my community has brought me great happiness,” she said.

For more than 30 years, Fletch Window Tint had used a competitor film manufacturer. Sally and Kevin switched to using 3M films in 2018. She said they will never look back. “We believe in the product and, by offering the very best, it sells itself,” she said. “You have organizations that work together as a team like 3M and Accent Distributing, it gives a small dealer like myself all of the confidence in the world. I appreciate that so much.”
