Dealer Spotlight: Amersol Installing Film in Dallas Area Since 1974
(This story originally appeared in the October 2018 issue of “Dealer E-News.”) – Owned by Rick Dietel, Amersol has been tinting homes and businesses in Dallas since 1974.
Rick spent about 15 years in window film distribution before taking over as manager of Amersol and later purchasing the company. Today, Amersol does about 70 percent of its business in commercial film.
Rick said he’s seen a lot of growth over the years in security and decorative films. As a distributor, he encourages dealers to offer decorative film as it accounts for year-round business. He also remembers when attachment systems first entered the market. “I knew we needed to learn to install them or someone else was going to get that business,” he said.
Today, security and decorative films account for a large portion of Amersol’s projects. Soon, they’ll install a combination of security and decorative films on more than 30,000 square feet of windows at a Social Security Administration office.
Amersol designs, prints and cuts graphics in house, and they do graphic installations daily. One of their most high-profile projects featured custom-printed, perforated 3M™ Fasara™ Glass Finishes. The film was installed on large glass entryways at The Star District, a 91-acre shopping and dining hot spot that includes the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. The work even made an appearance on “Monday Night Football.”
Amersol also has done projects for other large companies based in the Dallas area, including Toyota. While Rick is mostly busy with work, he’s also interested in cars. He’s a member of the National Corvette Restorers Society and the local Corvette Legends club. He used to restore old cars and he enjoys attending NASCAR, IndyCar and truck races.
