13 Jul Dealer Spotlight: Jekyll & Hyde’s Transforms Vehicles as a 3M™ Pro Shop
(This first appeared as a Dealer Spotlight in the July 2021 issue of Dealer E-News.) Nick Daryani knew that he wanted to open his own custom auto shop and treat customers the way that he wanted to be treated. As an avid car enthusiast, Nick had been to several shops and witnessed first-hand bad customer service and poor workmanship.
So, in 2019, he started searching the nation for quality employees who were at the top of their game in custom auto work, from highly recommended film installers to vehicle improvement experts. He compiled a team of 14 professionals from as far away as California, and, in March 2020, Nick opened Jekyll & Hyde’s Custom Car Wraps & Paint Protection Film in Farmer’s Branch, Texas.
“We try to under promise and over deliver on everything that we do here at Jekyll & Hyde’s,” Nick said. “We want to be an honest shop that you can rely on.”
As one of 3M’s newest Pro Shops, Jekyll & Hyde’s offers a full slate of 3M automotive solutions, including window film, paint protection film, wraps and ceramic coating. “It’s hard to be in this space without having 3M,” Nick said. “For us, 3M has a large offering of different film and colors of vinyl wraps. It’s a good partnership.”
The company, which is located just northwest of Dallas, also offers vehicle customizations, from lighting and stereo equipment to performance upgrades and more. Nick said a vehicle can come in looking normal and leave looking completely spectacular – which was the inspiration for the shop name.
“We cater to the customer and find out what they are looking for. And then we try to beat that expectation,” Nick said. The shop also has relationships with several of the area’s high-end car dealerships that carry BMWs, Porsches and more.
Nick said he has always had a fascination with super cars and fast vehicles. He recalls being a teenager in England and enjoying the freedom of driving. Throughout his life, he has owned his fare share of Ferraris and Lamborghinis. He also has owned SUVs and pick-up trucks. Opening a custom car shop was a dream come true for Nick, who spent several decades as a successful business owner in the cell phone carrier industry.
Now, he and his team work on custom car upgrades for locals, area celebrities and even companies. His 30,000-square-foot shop affords the space for “unveiling” parties with lighting and smoke machines for elaborate vehicle brand reveal parties. The shop will cover a car for a customer and lift the fabric to reveal the new look to their astonished eyes. “We provide the whole customer experience,” Nick said. “We’ve had people in tears here – good tears, not bad tears – because they can’t believe the work that has been done.”
Jekyll & Hyde’s was the site of the recent Virtual Road Trip XXI event hosted by Accent Distributing, 3M and the Ferrari Club of America to introduce Ferrari drivers to 3M’s automotive solutions. The May event included a Ferrari drive that supported the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County. The event streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. The Ferrari Club of America hosted watch parties throughout the country and saw Nick and his team install products and talk about 3M films.
Giving back is an important part of the shop’s culture. In September 2020, Jekyll & Hyde’s custom wrapped a Chevy Silverado at no cost for a local police officer who dresses up like Captain America and visits children in local hospitals throughout the Dallas area. The shop is currently restoring a 1965 Ford Mustang for the Carrollton Fire Department to auction off to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“That’s the stuff that we do for the community,” Nick said. “We feel that it’s important to support our community members and help where we can.”
